Speaking of hair...

Here's a video I'm sure Kaden will love when he's older. His sister styling his hair for him...

Kaden's hair

Every morning Kaden sits with us while I do Mackinna's hair. In the past couple of weeks, he's started pulling brushes & combs out of her basket of hair things and brushes his own hair. It cracks me up every single day, hasn't gotten old yet. I have never brushed his hair in his whole life, I guess he felt neglected. He loves it. And now its to the point where I'll hand him a brush or a comb to get him to stay still while I change his diaper. He is so content brushing his hair that he forgets to wiggle and if I ask him to brush my hair, he'll do that too. I think its adorable, his father, not so much. In fact he's probably not going to be thrilled that I posted this.

Kaden speaks

Kaden is 11 months old today. I can't believe my baby is almost a year old!
On Tuesday we were looking at pictures of his new second cousin and Kaden pointed right to the pictures of Ben on my computer screen and clear as day said, "baby." I was grateful to have Mackinna sitting right there because when Mark came home he didn't believe me. According to the sitter he said it again yesterday when they were reading a book with pictures of babies. He also says, "hey" and "hi".
He still eats a lot and sleeps a little, still gets into everything, so not really much to report since the 10 month update. He did sleep through the night one night last week, but it seems to have been a fluke. Though I guess i do need to give him credit for finally growing a tooth, and for giving kisses- those are new in the past couple of weeks.

The letter of the week

Mackinna and I were just talking about all the things that start with the letter T... Tennessee, toes, teeth, tomatoes, tuna, treats, tea, our neighbor Tim, her friend Tom. I suggested tiger, thinking of the animal. I don't know why I was surprised when she lit up and said, "Yeah Tiger Woods!" She is after all, her father's daughter.

Some pictures

Mackinna loves her cousins- here she is with Marina

Kissing

Kaden's got a new trick. My mom has claimed before that he has kissed her, but I was doubtful. Now I'm no longer skeptical.

Summer is here

We went to Crescent beach on Sunday with Grandma. Both kids played in the water despite its bone chilling temperature. Here is Mackinna jumping some waves.

Finally

We've got a tooth! Just 9 days before Kaden turns 11 months, one little tooth broke through. I tried very unsucessfully to get a picture to post, but Kaden thought that was a terrible idea. I won't give up just yet.

Mackinna's first trip to the dentist

Mackinna had her teeth cleaned today. She was so brave and good. I was so proud of her. Unfortunately there was a little boy screaming the entire time we were there, which certainly didn't make Mackinna's first experience at the dentist any easier. At one point when Mackinna got a little nervous, she reached out for me and I moved closer and held her hand. This didn't seem put her at ease. Her face was tense and she was continuing to reach with her other hand. I told her it was okay and that I was right there and we could keep holding hands. She replied, "I don't want your hand Mommy, I want my snuggy." I got her blanket out of the diaper bag and handed it to her as I remembered where I rate in her book. She held snuggy in her lap and took a few "little rubs" when she needed them. She went home with clean teeth, three stickers, a new tooth brush, a princess flosser and a very proud Mommy.
