Camping at Hermit Island 9/9-9/11

We had a beautiful weekend camping at Hermit Island, with Sarah, Ruddley and Tyler.  Auntie Nan, Auntie Patty, Jada and Marina where there too, and Grandma, Grandpa, Dylan, Auntie and Uncle Joe even came to visit.  Too bad Daddy was sick- a trip to urgent care on Sunday after check out determined it was strep throat!

We went camping this weekend (I'll post pictures soon) and I guess it really wore the boy out. He fell asleep in his sisters bed while we were laying out her clothes. Guess I need to move him so she can go to sleep...

4 year check up

Kaden finally had his 4 year check up this week.  He was such a star.  He chatted the ear off Joellen and Dr Youth- just went on and on and on.  He was cracking everyone up.  He got 4 shots, had vision and hearing exam too.  When they said he was going to have his eyes checked, he said, "I don't need my eyes checked.  I got my hair cut this morning, I can see now!"  He told both Dr Youth and Joellen separately that he ate bananas, corn and apples.  Not that either one asked... but for a couple weeks now I've been telling him he's got to better about eating his fruits and vegetables because at his check up Dr Youth would ask, so I guess he didn't want to wait for it to come up- he just volunteered his very short list of fruits and veggies and try to nip that conversation in the bud.

He was 42" tall (80%) and 41lbs (85%) We knew he was 42" because he had to be that tall to go on some rides at Dollywood's Splash Country when we were in Tennessee!

I just tried to go back and compare this to Mackinna's 4 year check up but it seems I didn't blog about a big girl update for her after hers :(

Kaden's first day of school!

Kaden started Pre-K at St Brigid School yesterday.  He had such a good time that today he seemed quite disappointed to learn that he was going to be staying home with me!

First day of First Grade!

Mackinna started school on Wednesday.  Mrs. Bosse is her teacher this year.  This is particularly awesome, not just because Mrs. Bosse is very nice (not bossy) but she was Mackinna's bus room teacher last year AND her son Garrett was in Hen's class last year and her daughter Gillian dances at Drouin with Mackinna!  This year Mackinna rides the bus with our neighbor Julia in the morning- something she has been dying to do for a couple of years now.  This means we have to catch the bus at 7:56!  We've got two days under our belts and so far so good.  We've had two really great mornings.  She has seems tired and cranky in the afternoons and even this weekend, but two great mornings leave me really hopeful that this year's transition will be much easier than last year.
