Kaden's heartbeat

Mackinna went to the doctor's with me this week. So they could, "Check Kaden."
Dr Van Hengel let Mackinna help by holding the monitor to hear the baby's heartbeat. She got to push the button to turn it on, which made her feel pretty important, and when we heard his heart beat she just lit up. She had the biggest smile. When Dr Van Hengel was done, Mackinna looked so dissappointed that she asked Mackinna if she wanted to listen more. Mackinna smiled, laughed and said YEAH!, so we listened for a while longer. Then she talked about Kaden's heartbeat for a few hours.

who knew a stroller could be so exciting

We were at Babies R Us buying a shower gift for a friend from high school and I asked Mackinna if she wanted to look at the strollers. She's obsessed now. The double strollers are perhaps one of the coolest things she's ever seen. She's still talking about "Hinna & Kaden's" stroller. We spent 20 minutes in the stroller isle. The only way I got her out was to tell her we'd have to bring Daddy back to look at them. Ever since then she's been talking about "Daddy 'ook, strollers" "Hinna & Kaden. Hinna in front. Walk in stroller with Kaden..." She goes on and on. She told my mom about them on the phone. The best part is she hardly ever uses her stroller- never has really. But the idea of sitting next to her brother in one, is suddenly very very cool.

Mackinna says the cutest things, everyday its something new. Here are a few...

• "Baby, out!" to which I say, "He can't come out, he needs to grow." Mackinna responds, "Grow Baby, grow!!"

• "Thank you brother" (When he let her use his snuggies when she left hers at school)

• "Doctor check Kaden?" (Repeatedly after I told her I had a Dr's appointment for them to check on her brother)

• She pulls up her shirt, points to her big belly and says, "Brother, Kinna's belly"

I love my little brother

My friend Tricia sent Mackinna and Kaden T-shirts. Mackinna's says, "I love my little brother" and Kaden's says, "I love my big sister" Mackinna LOVES this shirt. She calls it her brother shirt and slept in it for a few nights straight when she got it. Its amazing how much she loves this baby before he's even born. We'll see what happens when he really gets here- it might be another story. But for right now she lights up every time we talk about him, and when you ask her who is going to be a big sister, she SHOUTS- "Hinna!" She loves shopping for her brother- she holds things up and says, "Cute." She even helped me wash some clothes for him the other day and then talked about it for days. She sure does love her little brother. I'm sure a time will come when I'll have to remind her of these days....
