We had portraits done finally!

I thought it was a good idea...

This morning at breakfast, I asked Mackinna what she wanted to do today. She told me she wanted to do a puppet show. So after breakfast we went to set up. I told her, I had an idea. If we moved the chair we could hide behind it and do the puppet show there. She said, "No Mommy, that is a bad idea." Then she must have thought about it some more and said, "that is a really bad idea, a really really bad idea Mommy." She said she had a good idea, but it turned out to be a really, really bad idea if you ask me!

Safety first

Mark got a Tennessee football helmet for Christmas. We weren't able to fit in our luggage to bring home, and he's mom just recently shipped it to him. The other morning it was sitting on the floor in the back room and the chin strap was on the floor next to it. Mackinna picked up the strapped and asked what it was. I told her it was the strap to Daddy's helment. She replied, "I hope Daddy fixes it so he can wear his helmet to ride his bike."

I just picture Mark riding a bicycle wearing a football helment. I love it. He doesn't even have a bike, so actually I'm picturing him riding Mackinna's tricycle, wearing the helment- that's even better.

Mackinna/English dictionary

We were talking the other day about how we miss some of Mackinna's old words. Grandma and Grandpa are now pronounced with G, and I used to think, "muma" and "pupa" were so cute! But there are still a few words though that are pretty hard to decipher for most...
Mr McFeely (from Mr Roger's neighborhood) is Makiella. Its not even close...
Yogurt still starts with a G and yellow with an R.
She says "serious me" rather than seriously and "my byself" rather than by myself. I'm a big fan of those two- I still laugh each time I hear those ones.
I know there are more that I'm not thinking of, I'll have to start taking notes.

Two girls and a truck

Mackinna still isn't the best driver, but luckily our neighbor Julia is pretty good. She didn't crash into any snowbanks, or nearly roll the truck. She can even do three point turns and drive in reverse! Mackinna loved being the passenger the other day. She even road around in the back for a while!

Mackinna speak

Last night when I was getting the kids ready for bed, Mackinna grabbed her lotion and said to me, "You give me backwash Mommy?" I suggested that is was actually a back rub she was looking for, she agreed, but then moments later, again asked for a little backwash. I just had to laugh.

A baby on the move

Kaden is no where near crawling, but the kid is on the move. He has decided to use rolling as a mode of transportation. When I put him down for a couple minutes to put away his laundry, he was on the play mat, with his head at the other end!

Mackinna sledding

On Sunday we went to Auntie's and went sledding. Mackinna was so brave- she went down all by herself!

Kaden has stinky feet- seriously

This isn't just a game we play with him. His feet really truly stink and he doesn't even wear shoes. He thinks its a riot. I think he gets the stinky feet from his Uncle Shawn.

Kaden is done playing, so Jordie swoops in and steals the spot to take a nap

Yum- socks are so good

When I asked Mackinna what they were doing here- she replied, "Not sleeping"

6 months old!

I can't believe it, but our baby boy is 6 months old today.  1/2 a year!  Its gone so quickly & he's getting so big, he's like a grown up boy.  He's eating baby food- pretty much anything you put in front of him.  He's playing with toys and jumping like crazy in his jumperoo.  He is so interested in his big sister, and the dogs and cat.  He is so handsome, and SO BIG.  It makes me miss my (not so) little newborn, but its exciting to see all his new tricks, and soon I'll have a newborn nephew to get my fill of little baby cuddles.

E-Z cheese

Mark had made himself two turkey and cheese sandwiches yesterday to eat on his way to the track meet. He came in to say goodbye to us with one in hand. When Mackinna saw this she decided she needed a piece of cheese, but Mark had already put away the block of cheese.  I suggested she grab a string cheese from the fridge, so when she went to the kitchen, we all assumed that is that she was doing, however shortly after, Mark goes to leave and when he grabs his second turkey and cheese sandwich, he notices something missing.  The turkey and cheese sandwich is without cheese.  When we asked Mackinna if she took Daddy's cheese from his sandwich, she denied it, but something tells me the dogs didn't jump up on the counter, eat the cheese, while leaving the turkey and then put the bread back on the top of the sandwich.

The neighborhood of make-believe

Mackinna is very into playing pretend lately.  We drive in her car (the chair in the living room) and we go to the airport (usually the dining room), we got the grocery store in the kitchen and to Grandma's house.  She hands me invisible shoes when I ask her to help me find hers.  She has an imaginary friend name Owen and an imaginary dog named Betsey.
Yesterday Mackinna stood in front of the open door (it was about 25 degrees outside) shouting for Betsey for ever.  She clapped and cupped her hands and yelled, "come here Bets, Betsey come." I was getting pretty cold, when she asked me where I thought she was, and tried unsuccessfully to convince her that Betsey had indeed come in with Kuma and was sleeping in the other room. Finally she said, "Oh there she is!  She's still going potty.  Good girl Bets! Okay come here now."
Thank goodness she came back, I don't know how I would have posted missing signs!

New pictures

Happy New Year! Here are some new pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Does he look all grown up?

What a yummy star...

She's getting better, but I would still stay off the roads if you hear she's out driving.

He got bored and fell asleep.
