Remember the fat baby?
Have I mentioned that Kaden is wearing many of his shorts for the 3rd consecutive summer? I did break down and buy him a couple new ones, but he was such a chunky nugget one year old, his shorts from that year- fit him again as he started to slim down a bit last summer, and now that we don't have diapers in the mix, they still seem to fit. What a fat fat baby he was. I bet there aren't many other almost 3 year olds they can say they've worn the same shorts for 3 summers... I guess we got our moneys worth out of them!

Graduation
I never posted pictures of Mackinna's graduation from Pride's Corner Nursery School! She did such a great job! We were so proud of her and so excited for kindergarten.

Mackinna had a schools out ice cream party later in the week. I managed to get most of the kids to sit for a picture. They had such a good time. The day after graduation was "family day" at school- so Kaden got to go. They had a story teller and ice cream it was a pretty big hit. When we pulled up to the school that morning, Kaden said, "You graduated Kenna. This is not your school anymore its my school." He can't wait to go in the fall.

Home Alone
I just got back from a run over to the track. When I left everyone (except Lucy) was sound asleep. Upon my return, I found a tan snuggie on the floor in the kitchen. As I walk further into the kitchen I see the snack cupboard is open with a stool pulled over to it. At this point I'm certain there is a Kaden loose in the house. I walk around looking for him and quietly calling him. He answers, "I'm in Kenna's bed." When I make my way to Mackinna's room there I find the two of them cuddled up in her bed with Kaden holding an entire sleeve of open graham crackers. It was just the sweetest sight. I did question why he woke his sister rather than Daddy who was in the bed next to him. He didn't have a good answer.
After I found him he decided to come back downstairs with with, and asked that I pick up toys. I thought this was a strange request coming from someone who doesn't typically care much about picking up, until I made my way to the hall and the front stair case where I found his fisher price barn and then scattered along the stairs and the downstairs hall, all the animals and farmers that were inside it.
When we got downstairs I notice the bathroom light is on and turn it off. Kaden says to me, "I went potty standing up Mommy."
So he got up, looked for me, couldn't find me, so decided to just do what he needed to on his own. He went to the bathroom, got a snack, got some toys out and then climbed back into bed with his sister. He DID NOT- brush his teeth or get dressed though. Maybe next time.

From the mouths of babes
Last night at the Christmas Tree Shops we bought a big bag of Bulls Eye candies. Kaden keeps asking if he can "eat an eye ball." The first couple of times I corrected him and told him they are actually called bulls eyes, but I've given up now- eye balls it is. It makes me smile.
And Miss Mackinna- Last night I asked her to pick up a bunch of things she had in the kitchen. She started gathering eveything up and I pointed out something else. She looks at me and says, "I'm not an octopus!" I have never heard her say this before, and its certainly not something she picked up from me, so I asked her where she ever heard that. She said Mrs. Coleman (her teacher from two years ago) used to say it sometimes at snack time when everyone was asking for stuff at the same time. It just amazed me that she had filed this somewhere and held on to it for a year and half and pulled it out and used it in perfect context. As she told Grandma Campbell the other day, she "doesn't forget ANYTHING"
