Goodbye Florida
The kids in front of a palm tree as we load up the car to leave. I'm
not sure who is most upset to leave, them or us. We got a long day of
travel ahead of us and just realized we forgot the sandwiches we made
in the fridge. Guess we'll enjoy lunch at Newark.

Fluffy?
When I was getting Mackinna dressed the other day, she requested "fluffy" clothes because she had to go to track practice (not really- in Mackinna world). After a bit of thought, I determined that she
must have meant comfy clothes and she agreed to my suggestion of black leggings and a hooded sweatshirt.

Puddles should be a welcome sign of spring
And they were until Kaden spotted this on one our walk this
afternoon. Now I see what I'm in for and worry that it'll be a long
spring.

Kaden can spell!
Mackinna has been working on writing her name lately, so Kaden has too. When Mackinna is writing I'll typically spell it slowly as she goes, so when Kaden scribbles on paper next to her, I've been spelling his name for him too. Apparently "D" is the only letter he hears, or the only one he can say (he is still a man of few words). So if you ask Kaden how to spell his name he says, "D"- he also says that is how you spell Mackinna. When we were walking back from playing in the court the other day, he stopped and squatted down and pointed at individual letters on the man hole cover and said, "d...d...d"...one of them actually was a D. Then last night when Lost was on- he noticed the letters up on the black screen- L O S T and again he points and says "D." So I guess he recognizes letters, but rather than calling them letters, he refers to them all as Ds.

Brotherly Love
Mackinna didn't nap Saturday and fell asleep for the night on the couch before dinner. Mark & I were in the kitchen and came in to find her covered with Kaden's Bills/Red Sox blanket. When we asked Kaden if he covered his sister, he looked so proud, and then took another pillow and put it up by her head. Good thing it was warm out because, really her knees were the only thing that would have stayed warm under the blanket the way he covered her- but its the thought that counts. He is always so sweet to his sister. It warms my heart.
Beach day
Saturday was the most beautiful day. It was sunny and warm and snow and ice were melting. (Too bad it snowed again today) We took advantage of the picture perfect weather and made a trip to Pine Point. It was Lucy's first trip to the beach. She was afraid of the water. Too bad the kids weren't. Both tried to go in on different occasions.

Tailgate party photos
Well I'm sick of fighting with the paste function in Safari. It just won't get along with blogger today, so as much as it annoys me to have these pictures in reverse order of what I'd like- here they are. Better to share with them out of order than not at all.
Kaden James loving his sister's birthday party.
Daddy & Kaden help Mackinna blow out the candles.
The T cake and orange food spread.
Family photo- all in orange. Notice Salice is included.
Dylan in an orange pimp hat.
UT Cheerleaders ready to party.
I used the new alphabet cookie cutters from the Treehouse Toys reject pile. They were great! The Birthday Girl and her Grandpa. Not sure who loves orange more.
